How to Make an Eco-Friendly Bag from Industrial Wool Felt and Recycled Leather

Start with purchasing half a yard (normally 36” wide) industrial 3mm 100% wool felt. Wool felt is a biodegradable, sustainable and renewable material that will last you ages. Qualities of this material are countless so don’t be surprised to see that it might cost you about $40 – it’s totally worth it. You can now find them through different online shops including Etsy. I bought mine through Feltorama.com because it turned out to be a bit cheaper and the service is outstanding.


Put the fabric you are going to use as your lining on the floor (or table) and put the felt on top. Cut the lining about 1 inch bigger than the felt.


Then cut out all the pockets you will need. I thought about this part long and hard before hand – what can be better than a bag with pockets just for your things to hold. I made one huge pocket on one side for my mail and magazines and another little one on top of the big one.
